One more year, and that makes four, the Plaça Odissea Festival filled Maremagnum with the best national and international independent music.
Three incredible days during which we were able to enjoy, free as always, the best numbers of groups like The Last 3, The Raveonettes, Zoe, Pauline en la Playa, Dorian, Anika Sade, Men Among Animals, Single, Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, Estúpida Erikah or Los Punsetes.
From here, we would like to thank the more than 9,000 people who came to the Festival with the idea of having a good time and who made it a total success.

COMEDY FESTIVAL

Maremagnum, always faithful to the spirit of hosting cultural events, was the space chosen for the presentation of the second edition Comedy Festival in Barcelona. The first multilingual comedy festival in the world, which was held from 22 to 29 November.
With over 10 different sites around the city, the presentation took place at Maremagnum, with special programming for free shows throughout the day.
SANTA IS ME

This Christmas Maremagnum is turning all the stereotypes upside. Instead of one Santa, there are hundreds; instead of an unchanging fir tree, there is a growing one, made of pictures in which you are the star.
During the Christmas season, you will find wooden structures with different Santa, where you can put your face in. You can download all the photos taken on our website.
We have also organized some workshops for children where they have been able to dress up to become the Santa Claus that they like. And they got a fun photo gifts!
TaiChi Marathon XI

For another year Maremagnum is the place chosen for the TaiChi Marathon XI . On October 18th we will meet from 10 am to 5 pm to promote the mental, physical, and spiritual benefits of the sport.
It will be a full of fun and togetherness day for practitioners of TaiChi which will help promote the practice of this art.

Maremagnum with La Mercè´09

This year Maremagnum is again playing an active part in the festivities of La Mercè in Barcelona. If you come along on Friday 24 September, you will have a chance to enjoy two original and unusual activities: the Lindy Hop dance marathon and the wit machine, an event included in the Port Game 09.Lindy Hop marathon: 24 September, from 12 noon to 8.00 pm. For a few hours, Maremagnum will be full of swing and 20s aesthetics for the Lindy Hop dance marathon. Dancers in period costume, music and the collaboration of BCN Swing for an original festive event. The wit machine: Included in the Port Game 09, a race between two boats that move forward only when the participants successfully complete certain tests, as in a sort of gymkhana for people. The test consists in building a Wit Machine, which is made up of gears and levers, to push a ball along a path until it reaches a saucer. As there is no single solution, it is a perfect activity for groups to engage in and an opportunity to build something with their own hands.
A container full of art

The Maremagnum Showroom is housing the installation "Art Container-Art Contained”, a series of monthly exhibitions of contemporary art by different artists, various cultural activities and the chance to buy or hire the works on display. The "Art Container-Art Contained” initiative is part of the Compart project whose aim is to create new channels of access to art and reduce the distance between art works and spectators.
Come to Maremagnum and enter a container full of art; it’s bound not to leave you indifferent.

Music Day at Maremagnum

Maremagnum is, for the second consecutive year, the space for “ Día de la Música” concerts.
Heineken organizes these concerts in four importants cities in Spain.
On June 21st at 5p.m you can join us for a concert in Plaça Odissea, Barcelona.
The bands Inhabitants, Adrian(CatPeople), Cohete, Rematada, Templeton, Alosa Bentley, Christina Rosenvinge and Vetusta Morla will play the best current music in our city. Welcome the summer with these free, open-air concerts.

Al detall (Retail): A new collective photo exhibition by Barcelona Photobloggers
Maremagnum is successively staging another photo exhibition by Barcelona Photobloggers.
From 16 April you will have the chance to enjoy the new exhibition Al detall (Retail)
This time the main topic is shops. For a long time two types of retail outlets have existed side by side in our lives – local neighbourhood shops and shopping malls. The relationship between these two types is the theme of the exhibition.
The exhibition has been organised entirely via the Internet by the Barcelona Photobloggers collective and Maremagnum.

The excuse is that you’ll get lost in our tree maze. The reason is for you to look at the urban drawings of the graffiti artists who paint the tree while you’re passing by. The purpose is that during Christmas there are special activities worth participating in. We’ll join “La Fundació Éxit” a foundation that helps young people between 16 and 18 years old with their social and work integration. You can decorate the tree with the sticker that we give you. Every sticker is a big help!

This is “Pecha kucha Nigths” a non-profit event appeared in Tokyo and travelling around the world, landing now at Maremagnum in Barcelona.
Speakers in architecture, sociology, fashion and graphic design, music, photography, industrial design, cinema, multimedia, advertising, anthropology and health or environmental chemistry will interact in the meeting.

Fashion Pop Up by Maremagnum

4 weeks, 4 fashion designers and 1 new special guest.
For this 2008 edition Fashion Pop Up surprises again with a new special guest: a temporary architecture shop-project! This year the space is converted into an art installation: a store with no walls and conceived by the Architecture studio ex.studio, with an unique element of connection: the stitching line, the very source of any garment. The process will be based on the innovative idea of a literal vertical stitch of the building: multiple nylon-lines will create a radiant lighting effect, reflections and movements originating an optical show. A minimalist environment, transparent and futuristic, where we can enjoy the new collections of contemporary fashion designers. A space that evokes the “hand-made” process and aligns it with the “prêt-a-porter” creation process.

La Plaça Odisea 2 Festival

On the 10th, 11th and 12th of April, Maremagnum and Deposito Legal host the Odisea Square Festival. Free gigs will be showcased by some of the best bands currently in existence within the national scene. Christina Rosenvinge and Nacho Vegas, Standard, Belmez, La Casa Azul, Raülmoya and the Trío Miniña, The Bolws and Za will be perform for free at a unique open air space by the sea, in the centre of Barcelona.
STICKER CONTEST BCN

In 2007 the Sticker Contest BCN was held. This was the first contest ever where everybody, including artists, designers and illustrators, was invited to design an artistic space using stickers, planned for and adapted to the Maremagnum installations. The original, daring, and innovative nature of the winning proposal was awarded a cash prize. In addition, the best pieces were constructed and exhibited during the month of February 2008 at Maremagnum.

This bin is recycled in the form of an original shop where designers of national and international prestige display and sell their exclusive clothing brands. Every two months brings about a new stylistic vision, due to the variety of designers participating and the artistic atmosphere promoted by graffiti artists and their creative inspiration.

Four weeks in the month of May - seven days a week from 10am to 10pm - was the time national fashion lovers had for seeing, close up, the proposals of some of the most daring conceptual and interesting designers on the catwalk.
Locking Shocking, Txell Miras, Carlos Diez Diez and Mireya Ruiz shared the – Maremagnum rooms in Barcelona- where the first Pop-Up multi-brand shop in this country was launched.

On the 19th, 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th and 28th of April, Deposito Legal and Maremagnum host the Odisea Square Festival. This festival showcases a series of free gigs by some of the best bands in Barcelona, such as Vyvian, Facto Delafé and The Flores Azules, Le Philippes, Chico with La Espina en el Costado, Beef, Tarantula, Los Carradine, Manos de Topo, Evripidis and his tragedies, The Linn Youki Project, Aeropuerto, Muzak and much more.
